Adventures in 2025

When most travellers think of Cambodia, they picture the spires of Angkor Wat rising out of the mist. We did too,  until our spontaneous trip to Siem Reap turned into so much more. 

Winter hit Australia hard this year — and not just the weather. My mate lost his job, and morale was lower than a tide at dawn. We needed a shot of gee-up medicine: and kiteboarding felt like the perfect cure. But where? Most destinations were expensive or awkward to reach… until Cambodia blipped onto our radar. 

Paddling the length of the Murray river has been a teenage dream of mine. This trip is my personal official start of what I hope will be many journeys to reach that target. Every excursion I've had on its waters has been a pleasure, this trip was no exception.

For more than 30 years, the Woodford Folk Festival sat quietly but persistently on my bucket list — like a song you never quite forget the words to, even if you’ve never sung it out loud. I’d heard the stories. I’d seen the photos. Every year, I’d think, Maybe next time . And then, at long last, this year, I went. It didn’t disappoint. In fact, it absolutely lit me up.
